Thanks to a timely coupon, I paid about $450. I ordered this drive from the same seller on ebay's US site. Does anyone know of an aftermarket drive that works well with this machine and meets one of those criteria? My google-fu seems thus far to be lacking - View image here: -ฤก28GB for around US$550 and fits in a first gen Air - sounds interesting to me. Either a larger hard drive or an SSD of the same or larger capacity would be nice. Beyond not wanting to pay the premium for Apple to install the drive, I'd like an upgrade. It's currently got the stock 80GB 4200 RPM ATA drive. So, this machine is just out of warranty and needs a new HD. Give us some kind of target disk mode back, Apple!) a machine with no optical drive and no target disk mode is a bitch to troubleshoot. DiskWarrior's report leaves me pretty certain the drive is bad. ![]() ![]() Backups + DiskWarrior (for the stuff since the last backup) leave me in possession of all my data. Verbose mode showed a few "I/O Error" messages before the machine powered itself off. Just shut down after about a minute at the grey Apple screen. So I just got back from vacation and installed the 10.5.7 update, and my Macbook Air wouldn't boot.
